Project GMT Pre-order is Full…

at this point. We will be reviewing the pre-orders received tomorrow and Thursday. The Project GMT has been taken off the e-boutique for now and we will insert a placeholder there that will re-direct you to the mailing list sign-up. The mailing list will also serve as a wait list. For those customers that don’t make it onto the Pre-order as it is now we will automatically add you to the mailing list and refund your payment.

If you didn’t make it onto the pre-order but would like to receive updates on this project or any potential openings in the pre-order please use the following form to add yourself to the mailing list. Please note that this mailing list will only be used for the Project GMT. You will not receive any additional mailings from Mk II. To sign up for our general mailing list please use the link at the top right hand corner of the site.

The Pre-order for the Project GMT will likely

close by Tuesday (January 24th, 2012) evening if not sooner. Once the pre-order is full we will open up a mailing list for those waiting for additional information and/or openings.

Project GMT: Now open for Pre-order

We are now accepting deposits for the Project GMT.

(Yes I am aware that the word project is currently misspelled in the E-boutique :p – we will have that fixed in a little bit.)

Project 300 Survey Result

Using the survey results as a guide for Project 300, I have been working on how the dimensions should change. Primarily I was looking at how large a diameter watch we could make while minimizing the overall length of the watch. This is due to the fact a that most customers had signed up for the project based on some faulty figures that I had collected from an old military Seamaster that I no longer own. The viewpoint that the length was the overriding issue was reinforced by the survey results and people’s feedback on the forum.

The following are the target dimensions for the Project 300:

– Diameter: 41.40 mm

– Length: 48.75 – 49.25 mm

– Thickness: 12.00 – 13.00 mm

The length of the watch is still a range and represents one that I believe that we can safely achieve without distorting the proportions of the design. The range will provide the necessary freedom to tailor the length to the diameter. I will be doing my best to make the watch’s overall length as short as aesthetics will allow. The top end of the range (49.25 mm) can be safely assumed to be a hard and fast limit to the maximum length of the watch.

Coming up:

  1. I will update the Project 300 page later this week
  2. I will begin work on the survey for the name of the project. The target launch date for this next survey will be the first half of the week of the 23rd.

My apologies for the extended delay in getting these results determined and published. Along with the holiday rush in November/December I have been struggling with the Pre-Order Kingston shipments and ultimately finding a balanced work schedule that would allow progress on watch deliveries as well as design work. Fortunately progress has been made on both fronts. Based on the new work schedule that I have been using for the last couple of weeks I should be back on the forum and directing the open projects this week.

Lumed Sapphire Inlay Paradive Now Available

After nearly two years of development the Paradive Type I-B is back! This time the Type I-B features a new luminous (BG W9) sapphire bezel inlay. The sloped sapphire inlay is, to the best of my knowledge, the first of its kind and the key hurdle that we needed to overcome in the production process. As arduous as the process was during the last two years the remarkable results were worth the struggle. The brightness of the BG W9 luminous layer was one of the biggest challenges and its performance has exceeded my expectations.

Yes there will be a 12-hr GMT version of the sapphire bezel as well. However the production of the sapphire inlays has such a high scrap rate that we will be waiting until we have the parts literally in hand before we launch the 12-hr GMT variant.

Lume shot Paradive Sapphire Inlay

The new Type I-B model is available in:

  • Non-Date
  • Day/Date
  • Date only

configurations. The new models also are available with the new bracelet option. To shop and learn more about the new model please see the E-boutique here. Later we will post more photos of the different configurations available. For the last couple of months and through January we just don’t have the spare production capacity to mock up the samples for photos.

For those customers that pre-ordered the Paradive when it was originally launched in 2010 we still owe you a parts kit and bracelet. We will be contacting those customers via e-mail in March. The longer lead time for the original pre-order customers is so that we can get enough bracelet Paradives completed that we can provide you with support and guidance during the installation of the bracelet. Each bracelet and production batch has its own quirks that we need to work through and understand before allowing someone to self-install a bracelet.

TBA this week: Survey Conclusions

Basically we have narrowed the results down to options B or C. I am going through the results more carefully and analyzing the impact to the design to see if we should choose B, C or a middle ground between the two.

B: Diameter: 41.75 mm / Length: 49.00 – 49.49 mm
C: Diameter: 41.25 mm / Length: 48.50 – 48.99 mm

I will have a final answer later this week.
